Can I always visit a general practitioner?
You can always visit a general practitioner (GP) if you need medical care. A general practitioner is not allowed to refuse to give you the medical care you need.
If you applied for a health insurance but you don’t have an insurance number yet, it might that you have to pay the bill yourself. As soon as you got an insurance number, you can submit the receipt to your insurance company. The insurance company will reimburse the costs to you.
The GP is excluded from deductible excess. Therefore, you don’t have to pay any costs for a consult with the general practitioner if you have a Dutch health insurance.

You can register with a GP within your municipality. You can phone or visit the practice of the GP to complete your registration, some GP's have a website and mention if they take on new clients.
